The Actor’s Plan

Hi everyone,

I’m so proud to bring you The Actor’s Plan, one of the most important career tools I’ve ever created.

Most people know me as a Hollywood Career Strategist who serves the career needs of everyone from beginners to veterans in the entertainment industry by offering career information, tools, and resources to become successful in show business. But what many don’t know is I got my start in this business as an actress and model in the mid-80s when I first got my SAG and AFTRA card in NYC.  I bring to the table both my skills as a Hollywood Career Strategist and coach, and my acting and modeling background.  In other words, I’ve been there, done that.

My philosophy is simple.  I consider the development of practical career skills to be the most critical and decisive factor in determining a person’s success or failure in the entertainment industry.  The Actor’s Plan was written to help you design a strategy you can follow to develop a successful career as an actor.

The Actor’s Plan is a step-by-step workbook designed to help you develop a career plan by building the tools necessary to manage and grow your acting career.  The 50 page workbook includes 21+ career development forms and 3 Excel spreadsheets to help you plan each step of your career.  It’s an interactive experience, giving you a chance to think, write, and articulate your goals and strategies, and subsequently increase your prospects for success.

But The Actor’s Plan is more than a workbook. It’s a process.  Once you go through it, you’ll have an actual plan to either start or move your career to the next level. You will have developed a focused step-by-step strategy to get you from A to Z. No longer will you haphazardly try to capitalize on opportunities as they are presented.  You will be prepared and ready to seize the moment.

Developing a successful career as an actor isn’t easy.  But it can be made easier. That is the sole purpose of this workbook.  To help you take stock of your career, specifically, the business side.  Many people have talent, but not everyone has what it takes to succeed.  If you’re convinced you can enjoy a successful acting career, this workbook will provide step-by-step guidance in developing a strategy.

Self-evaluate where you are in your career and why.

Goals Matrix and Goals Worksheets will help you set long, intermediate and short-term goals so you know exactly what you want to achieve.

Start building “your story” which you will use in your bio, personal pitch and online “about me” statements.  Define your story in advance so that its engaging and compelling, and draws people towards you.

Take control of your finances.  How much do you need to finance your career?  Get a grand-view of the career expenses necessary to take your career to the next level.  If you know what its going to cost, then you can plan accordingly and prioritize how you’re going to invest in your career.

The Situation Analysis will take a close look at where you are in your career and why.

Find out what your strengths and weaknesses are.

Do a Competitor Profile.  Who your competitors and why are they working?

Use the Career Tools Checklist to get an overall look at the tools you have at your disposal and those you need to develop.

Define your brand, image and type.  Is it working for you?  Find out what you can do to make yourself more marketable.

Do a Promotional Analysis of how you’re promoting yourself, what’s working, what’s not, and why.

Before you walk out the door, use the Preparation Checklist for General Interviews & Auditions.

Do you have “talking points” that you can use in networking situations?  Make sure you’re coming off as a talented, personable, engaging and likable person with something to offer.

Learn how to self-manage your career by organizing the business-side of your career.

Define your Career Strategy, your plans for achieving your goals.  Your career strategy will answer questions such as –How should you “position” yourself? Who will you target for work — casting directors, producers, directors?  What’s your strategy for reaching these people — networking, mailings, showcases?

The Networking Plan will help you design a networking strategy to increase your network of colleagues and friends.
