TANYA KERSEY is one of Hollywood's most respected and well-regarded entertainment journalists and commentators. Empowerment has been the guiding force behind every personal and professional endeavor taken on by this veteran entertainment journalist and festival producer. 

Kersey is perhaps best known as the Founder, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the entertainment trade publication, Black Talent News and its companion website, Blacktalentnews.com; and as the Founder and Executive Director of the Hollywood Black Film Festival, an annual 6-day celebration of black cinema drawing together established filmmakers, popular film and TV stars, writers, directors, industry executives, emerging artists and new audiences from Southern California and around the world.

With over two decades of experience in the entertainment field, Tanya has an enviable reputation for having her finger on the pulse of what’s happening in 'Black Hollywood.' She is exceptionally well informed on the state of Black Hollywood and the critical issues faced by blacks in entertainment.

Tanya's many books include Black State of the Arts: A Guide to Developing a Successful Career as a Black Performing Artist, considered by many to be the "Bible" for blacks in the performing arts. She has also authored The Black Film Report, and The Urban Hollywood Resource Directory.

As a reflection of her ongoing commitment to Blacks in the entertainment industry, Ms. Kersey has several publications scheduled for release in 2005.  “The Guide to Black Film Festivals,” and a series of career planning handbooks for actors, writers, directors, producers and filmmakers.
